A new company with more than 30 years of experience
cellcentric was founded on 1 March 2021 as a 50:50 joint venture between Daimler Truck AG and Volvo Group AB. We did not start from scratch. We built directly on decades of fuel cell research and development by both parent companies, absorbing their combined expertise from the very first day.
Since 2021, we have grown from a newly formed joint venture into a company with more than 560 specialists across four locations, more than 850 individual intellectual property rights (August 2026) and fuel cell systems running on public roads in fully loaded 40-ton trucks. We are no longer finding our feet. We know exactly what we develop and manufacture - and why we do it.

Our vision is zero emission in the heavy-duty segment. Our mission is to power sustainable life. We have a clear commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable environment, and we focus on a segment of the mobility sector where fuel cells can have the greatest impact on reducing overall emissions. As there is no single solution for everything, we see fuel cells as a complementary step alongside battery electric vehicles, helping to decarbonize the routes and applications where other technologies reach their limits.
